With a dynamic approach, Alex oversees all operations, construction, and development across Coastland’s portfolio. Since founding Coastland Construction in 2001, Alex has expanded its scope: the company is currently licensed as a general, roofing, pool and underground utilities contractor. Under his leadership, Coastland has delivered over $225 million in commercial, residential, and aviation projects, including multifamily, townhomes, office buildings, and aircraft hangar facilities.

Alex’s leadership style is rooted in trust, as he places confidence in his skilled team to deliver their best work, while fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. With over three decades of experience, including a decade as Vice President and Co-Owner of Rovel Construction, he brings deep industry knowledge.

Driven by determination and boundless energy, Alex is committed to achieving outstanding results for his clients, his company, and his team. His passion for excellence is the force behind Coastland’s continued growth and reputation for exceeding expectations.

Beyond the boardroom, Alex embodies the mantra of “Work Hard, Play Hard.” A licensed commercial pilot and lifelong adventurer, he blends professional dedication with a deep appreciation for the rewards of hard work. His balanced approach fuels his leadership making Alex Rodriguez an inspirational figure in the construction industry.

Karen oversees all marketing strategies for the portfolio as well as overseeing design, including look & feel, space planning, functionality and finishes of Coastland’s internal projects. Additionally, she serves as the primary creative force and chief liaison for Coastland’s affiliated entities including Coastland Residential and Pool Tech Builders. A native of Barbados, Karen’s work is influenced by the rich island community and Bajan culture.

Over the past 15 years, Karen has played a pivotal role in branding, design development and interior design for Coastland, overseeing numerous projects in excess of $200 million. In her role, she quarterbacked Coastland’s coordination with architects, engineers, designers, and other consultants to create developments that are both functional and uniquely aesthetic. Karen’s approach of integrating marketing and design has resulted in communities offering distinct lifestyles. Since 2020, Karen has been directly responsible for the asset management of over $150 million of Coastland’s portfolio, including business plan development and implementation, budgeting and lease-ups. As a Co-founder of Host A Hero Karen dedicates her time to supporting our nation’s active-duty special forces families.

Alexa is proficient in a range of financial software tools, including Sage CRE3000 for construction accounting, PMWeb and Quicken. Her meticulous approach covers vital responsibilities such as reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and comprehensive financial reports. She excels in streamlining financial operations, ensuring Coastland remains at the forefront of financial excellence. Alexa’s strategic vision and resolute commitment to the company’s financial health have played a pivotal role in shaping Coastland’s financial success. Her leadership and dedication make her an indispensable figure as Chief Financial Officer, guiding Coastland Construction toward a prosperous future.

Shellaine is a State of Florida Certified General Contractor with over 26 years of experience in the construction industry, encompassing development, entitlements, leadership, operations, general management, budgeting, contracts, procurement, and permitting. Having lived in South Florida for more than 34 years, Shellaine has played a significant role in shaping Miami’s skyline, contributing to iconic projects such as the Kaseya Center (formerly American Airlines Arena), the Adrienne Arsht Center, the Ritz Carlton/Di Lido Hotel, the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, the Seville/Edition Hotel, Brickell Arch, and various high-rise condominiums.

Shellaine holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Florida International University and has completed Master’s Degree coursework in Construction Management. She also earned a certificate in the Capital Improvement Program from the University of Georgia. Known for her vibrant personality, Shellaine is also multilingual, fluent in English, Spanish, Dutch, and Portuguese.

His career is marked by his ownership of several thriving businesses, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and leadership capabilities. His extensive experience enables him to provide strategic direction while fostering strong, cohesive partnerships with subcontractors, vendors, and municipalities. Known for his strong commitment to quality, Chad ensures that every project is completed on time and to the highest standards.

Committed to ensuring a prosperous future for Coastland, Samantha champions the integration of cutting-edge technologies and streamlined processes to enhance project controls. Her leadership extends to the ongoing improvement of the company’s employee training program, which reflects her deep commitment to nurturing talent within the organization and ensuring the highest standards of performance.

Samantha holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Florida International University. Her journey with Coastland began seven years ago in the Accounting Department, where she developed a passion for the construction industry. Fueled by her belief in the value of hard work, Samantha continues to succeed and make her mark in the industry as a Project Manager.

Alongside her talented team, Sara expertly manages the intricate aspects of design coordination, constructability reviews, competitive bidding, value engineering, and procurement. Sara’s deep-rooted passion for the built environment was nurtured during her upbringing, where she spent considerable time at her father’s jobsites. This early exposure ignited her appreciation for construction and propelled her toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Miami. Over the course of her remarkable two-decade career, she has contributed her expertise to a wide array of projects, from historical restorations to leading-edge new construction, spanning government facilities, schools and mixed-use developments. Her diverse experience, coupled with her innate ability to foster relationships, fuels her commitment to client and trade partner engagement, collaborative design and mentorship of the next generation of construction professionals.

Juliana began her studies in Civil Engineering in Medellin, Colombia. She began at Coastland in 2019 when she joined as an intern before taking on increasingly pivotal roles in the company. Her remarkable drive, attention to detail, and steadfast task orientation have played pivotal roles in her success both on and off the jobsite. Leading a dedicated team of estimators, she specializes in quantity surveys and fundamental REVIT modeling. As she continues to evolve in her current role, Juliana is excited to explore her passions further, which include structures, interior design, and development. She holds an MBA at Florida International University, specializing in finance, a testament to her commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
